Carlos Simon. M.D., Ph.D.

President of Carlos Simon Foundation

Dr. Simon, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Valencia and adjunct faculty at Harvard and Baylor, is a world-renowned leader in reproductive biology. His work on endometrial–embryo communication and endometrial stem cells has driven major advances in uterine regeneration. With over 550 publications, 57,000 citations, an h-index of 136, and numerous international awards, he has pioneered key discoveries that have shaped clinical practice, education, and biotechnology.

Inmaculada Moreno, Ph.D.

Senior Principal Investigator and Director of the Education Department

Dr. Moreno investigates how the microbiome influences embryo implantation, reproductive outcomes, and women’s health. She demonstrated the existence of the endometrial microbiota and has advanced diagnostic approaches for chronic endometritis and probiotic-based strategies for endometrial health. With over 15 years of experience, she has been a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and has authored more than 40 impactful peer-reviewed publications.

Felipe Vilella, Ph.D.

Senior Principal Investigaror and Scientific Vice President

Felipe Vilella, Doctor en Biología Molecular, es el líder consolidado del grupo de laboratorio «Maternal–Fetal Crosstalk» en INCLIVA/Fundación Carlos Simón. Ha realizado dos estancias postdoctorales, una en el Clinical Science Centre del MRC en Londres (Reino Unido) y otra en el Centro de Investigaciones Príncipe Felipe en Valencia (España). Además, fue investigador visitante durante cinco años en la Universidad de Stanford y durante dos años en la Universidad de Harvard (EE. UU.).

Xavier Santamaria M.D., Ph.D.

Senior Clinical Scientist and Medical Vice President

Dr. Santamaria is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology with a focus on reproductive medicine and translational research in women’s health. He trained at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona, completed his residency at Hospital del Mar (Barcelona), earned his Ph.D. from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and undertook a postdoctoral fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Yale University (USA).
